Batman and Robin #7 First Look

UPDATE: SORRY - HAD TO REMOVE THE PAGE

Here's a page from my upcoming Batman & Robin story. I'm not going to show too much on this blog, because obviously we want you to buy it, but I'll ration out a few bits and bobs as we go...

Now, here's what I need you to do. This Wednesday, September 16, the solicitation for Batman & Robin #7 is in the new Previews catalogue (for those of you unfamiliar with the comic book direct market system, Previews is the distributor catalogue that all comic book retail stores use to order stock). I need you to go in to your local comic shop and talk to the people who work there, and tell them that you're really looking forward to this, and if you really want to be bold, suggest that they should probably order a few extra copies to be safe. I feel like, as a guy who hasn't done a whole lot of big mainstream superhero work, I'm the dark horse in this race and I need all the help that I can get, and it would be great if advance word-of-mouth could help make a little jump in sales. Thanks for your help!!

  4. I will, but I know my local shop will be getting it in in a big way anyway - they love B&R there, and Seaguy, and your work.

  5. Cannot. Wait.
I've been pushing this on my friends just on the strength of Sea Guy and Sin Titulo.

  7. No point me going on at the chaps who run my local. They'll know to order plenty of copies because people in my town have taste.

Movement! To my mind that's the key thing that Quitely's work brought to the comic, and it's so nice to see that you've picked up that baton and run with it.

That's one gorgeous page, Cameron, keep up the good work.

  8. I have to say, the only experience I have with your art is the first run of Seaguy(which I dug). But you draw the best Damian-Robin outside of Frank Quietly. The arrogance and completely confident sneer oozes off the drawing, love it. So based on that alone, I'm massively pumped to see you on this title, possibly more so then either Tan or Irving. It seems so hard for other folk to get Damian drawn "right" in my mind so when I saw that I was instantly onboard.

    Welcome aboard.

  9. Are you kidding me? When I first saw that image with Batman and the Squire, I sent it to five friends noting that this is why you should draw Batman sometime. Now that's exactly what is happening! I'm going to talk this one up to everyone, but just about everyone is buying BATMAN AND ROBIN anyway, so you'll be in good company. Put me down for two copies!!

  10. Where's Cameron drawn Damian?

Also love the way London actually looks like London. There's a wonderful intimacy in seeing a place you know well between the pages of a Batman comic

  12. Hey Cameron! The Newsrama solicitations for December issues are up but i don't see Batman & Robin #7 in it! :( Is your 1st B&R issue coming in January? =O

  13. Hey Cameron.

I read somwhere that your arc on B&R had something to do with Blackest Night. Has it been delayed to coincide with plot points from within the Blackest Night mini? Will there be two issues in January? =D

  14. Guess I was right about the Blackest Night plotpoints having to align in BN #6 before BAR #7 can see the light of day (see DC Nation colum in BAR #5)
